Fire Hooper of the Year... THATS ME!!!

I am beyond thrilled and honored to be 2008's Fire Hooper of the Year.

I'm not even sure what happened! I was sleeping, then my phone started to blow up and was wondering, "why the heck are people calling me this early!" Then as I checked a text from my friend Rich http://www.isopop.com/ I leaped out of bed to my computer knowing that I must of won something!

I can't believe I won. I was up against some pretty amazing fire professionals. One being Shredder, http://www.shredderhoops.com/home.html I mean, the girl is absolutely phenomenal.... The fact that I was even in the same running with her makes me a winner LoL

I can seriously count the number of things I have won on my 5 fingers... This tops it all. I am beyond humbled and shocked and just plain silly happy!!!

Wow, I guess I need to step it up a notch and go to fire practice...

I want to thank ALL my friends and family and the unknown hoopers that voted for me. My heart is beyond filled with THANKS to you.

Weekend Hoopla!

What an AMAZING weekend of hooping!

On Saturdays we have a drum circle that is, I think, one of the best drum circles around. Filled with amazing people, great beats, and of course HOOPING! This last Saturday however was more magical then any other.

I sat there looking around, couldn't believe what I have started. There were about 15 hoopers at one point. I ran out of hoops! Thank God for my student and friend Bita who had extras :)

I felt so good. I felt like I was making a change in this world. I know cheesy, but looking around all these people hooping were so happy, so positive and it was because I brought the hoops and encouraged them to pick it up, or they saw me hooping and was intrigued. I have never felt so much love around me. I am truly blessed.

On Sunday was even better. There was a beach party at Butterfly. They had a whole sound system and djs and it was about 80 degrees out. Of course I brought my 10 hula hoops, lugging them on the beach and as soon as they hit the sand people were using them. Men too : ) I don't think I have ever been more blissed out. The music was absolutely rockin! I hooped for HOURS. I couldn't stop. I hooped right in the beach water, slapping the water around with my hoop. I was laughing and just having the best time of my life! At one point in the music, the dj mixed in Obama's speech, the sun was coming down and I was at a perfect flow. I don't think I'll ever forget that moment.

Wish I had some pictures, if I get any, I'll post some back up.

THANK YOU UNIVERSE for the amazing weather and the amount of hooping that went on this weekend. My body feels nourished and loved! God I love Santa Barbara.

Underwater Hooping is like underwater basketweaving...

It's hard!!

Not only do you have to hold your breath and keep your eyes open, but you have to think of pointing your toes, and how your fingers are placed all the while swimming around a hula hoop! The pictures did come out beautiful though. So it was worth it!!
